2nd day of the Worlds
No racing today due to thunderstorms. Weather looks better tomorrow!

This morning we found out that we were disqualified from all races of the World championship. We missed a stamp on our measurement certificate. This has nothing to do with the equipment, it is just a paperwork issue. We were not informed about this and so we could not do anything about it anymore. It is a heavy decision, but we have to take it how it is!
Luckily it was not our best event.. This afternoon we will fly back home. Next year must be a more positive year for us! For now: control, alt, delete!

For us the Worlds ended yesterday. We had horrible day. The first race our vang broke, this is like the chain of your bicycle, so there was no way we could finish the race. This had a DNF (did not finish) as result. The second race we could not recover well and finished far in the back. Overall we ended up 25th.
Yesterday we watched our fellow teammate Pieter Jan Postma in the Finn class having a good day in the late afternoon. Today he will sail the medalrace and fight for the World title. He is in second position now. In the laser radial class our teammate Marit Bouwmeester has a big chance to become World champion, she is now in a solid first position. We will come and cheer you to the finishing line, good luck today!
It is a little strange here, because we are finished, but still half of all the athletes is starting next monday with the Worlds. This means our trainingpartners Lisa & Lobke, windsurfer Dorian and room buddy Rutger will start tomorrow, we wish them a great week! We will be heading home tomorrow afternoon.
Next stop is Miami in january, but first we have Christmas and NYE!

Gold fleet racing started from yesterday. This means we are sailing with the best 40 boats of the fleet against each other. Yesterday we only sailed one race. We were up in good position, fighting hard. Unfortunately we lost a few boats towards the end, finishing 18th. At this stage our worst result is a 19th place. As you know (or not..), from all 10 races in the end, you can only discard your worst result, from all the other races you count all points. Always towards the end of a regatta many boats already have one bad result, for example a disqualification or a 30th place. This means they can discard this race at this point, but if they have one more bad race, they must count the points.
Today we had two more races. The first race we were smoking around the course in 4th position, but the last upwind we could not read the wind well and fell back to 13th, ouch.. The second race we started a bit further in the back, but we managed to pass boats every leg around the course, crossing the line in 9th position I think. So far our worst result is still a 19th place and that is slowly starting to pay. We are now in 23rd place overall. Hopefully we can still finish around 15th place after a good day tomorrow.

Today we had nice sailing conditions. We did 3 races. Our results were quite similar to day 1. Very disappointing for us, hopefully we will get back on track the coming days, to show some nice racing! Not much too say at this moment..
