After a week of training the moment is there now. This afternoon the first day of the World Cup Miami will take place. We have a late afternoon schedule with 14:00 starts everyday. The wind is forecasted light, so typically Miami conditions. We had a nice training period and feel comfortable to start this afternoon. The main points for this week are the focus and communication, we worked hard on that the past days and we will use that this week.

When we arrived in Miami everything was going as planned. But after a few days, in the middle of the night, I started to feel sick and couldn't hold any food inside my body for a few days. Bad timing, because the US Nationals were about to start. We tried to sail as many races as possible, but the first day after some waiting on the water we decided to go in. The second and third day we sail 4 races and I was feeling much better already. I'm up to normal dinners again and getting stronger and stronger.
For now there is a week training on the program, starting today. It seems we get some Miami conditions again, light winds and warm weather. We will training till the weekend and monday the World Cup will start. We are gonna make sure we are fit and fresh by then!

First of all, happy new year to all of you! We hope you had a great christmas and new year with family and friends. After we came back from Perth we had a little break to sort some things out. Because of our results in 2011 the funding for TeamSteven in 2012 will be shortened. This means we have to make good plans how to proceed our campaign in 2012 to be able to qualify for London!
After some meetings and thinking we are really happy with the program we have and we are looking forward to go on the water again! The program is still on the highest level and luckily we don't have to make any concessions towards London!
Sunday we left Amsterdam to warmer weather. Miami it is! We are preparing the boat now and tomorrow will be the first day on the water. Coming friday we will start with the US Nationals, I will try to find a website where you can follow the results. After the US Nationals we have one week of training before the World Cup starts here.
We will keep you posted!

This morning we found out that we were disqualified from all races of the World championship. We missed a stamp on our measurement certificate. This has nothing to do with the equipment, it is just a paperwork issue. We were not informed about this and so we could not do anything about it anymore. It is a heavy decision, but we have to take it how it is!
Luckily it was not our best event.. This afternoon we will fly back home. Next year must be a more positive year for us! For now: control, alt, delete!

For us the Worlds ended yesterday. We had horrible day. The first race our vang broke, this is like the chain of your bicycle, so there was no way we could finish the race. This had a DNF (did not finish) as result. The second race we could not recover well and finished far in the back. Overall we ended up 25th.
Yesterday we watched our fellow teammate Pieter Jan Postma in the Finn class having a good day in the late afternoon. Today he will sail the medalrace and fight for the World title. He is in second position now. In the laser radial class our teammate Marit Bouwmeester has a big chance to become World champion, she is now in a solid first position. We will come and cheer you to the finishing line, good luck today!
It is a little strange here, because we are finished, but still half of all the athletes is starting next monday with the Worlds. This means our trainingpartners Lisa & Lobke, windsurfer Dorian and room buddy Rutger will start tomorrow, we wish them a great week! We will be heading home tomorrow afternoon.
Next stop is Miami in january, but first we have Christmas and NYE!
